House of the Dead: Remake – How to Unlock Every Weapon
Are you a fan of the classic arcade shooter, House of the Living Dead? If so, you know that it can be a challenge to locate all of the extra weapons hidden throughout the game. But don’t worry – we’ve got your back! In this guide, we’ll provide detailed steps on how to find those elusive extra weapons and help you become a master of House of the Living Dead. So get ready for some intense searching and let’s get started!
In the revamped version of House of the Dead, Thomas Rogan and Agent G were really unprepared for what awaited them in Curien’s mansion – let’s just say their arsenal was more suitable for a Sunday picnic! In your first few runs through the game, your biggest enemy is the size of your pistol’s clip.
The good news is you don’t have to settle for just one weapon in the game – if you’re feeling up to it, there are FOUR additional weapons that can be unlocked! It may require some extra effort but hey, nothing worth having comes without a bit of a challenge. It may seem like a lot of work to clear the campaign before unlocking The House of the Dead Remake’s bonus content, but if you think you have what it takes for a classic arcade adventure then you’re in for a wild ride!

How to Unlock Every Weapon in House of the Dead Remake
The first step is to get the Saviour achievement/Trophy, by rescuing all the surviving scientists in the first three chapters of the game. No matter what you do, these scientists are there lurking around the corner. Who knows, some of them may even get into a pickle or two!
Don’t even think about killing anyone! You gotta keep your eyes on the prize and reach chapter 3 with no casualties – that way all the scientists will have their faces in the group photo on the results page (see below) without a single red X! Looks like scientists just can’t catch a break in this world! If they get killed off in cutscenes, it doesn’t count towards the grand total. I guess this means photo day is essential for survival or something – no selfies allowed!

As long as nobody above is X’d out, you’re in good shape.
Don’t be disheartened though, there’s still hope – The only way to become a pro at Saviour is with loads of patience, memorization and lightning-fast reflexes! Losing a scientist in the game isn’t the end of the world – you can simply close it out and start again from scratch. You don’t need to be amazing and save all your scientists in one go – just take as many breaks as you need! That way, you can still get that achievement/Trophy, you can do the game on easy mode in the settings so don’t be put off.
While you don’t actually get credit for Saviour until the end of the game, you do earn an immediate reward for it. If you enter Chapter 4 with every scientist alive, you’ll be taken to a special area full of rewards after your second match against the Hanged Man. Tada! The Secret room achievement/trophy has been unlocked, giving you a chance to catch your breath (and health) before facing the fearsome final boss. And as an added bonus, the Armory in the Gallery is now open for business!
You can now gradually unlock the rest of the available weapons in House of the Dead Remake, by finding and shooting specific treasure chests. If you’re stuck, don’t worry. Every chapter has a secret clue, though the first two are a bit hard to spot!
-
It should be kept in mind that the weapon chests associated with the Saviour achievement/trophy will not be available until the achievement/trophy is unlocked. These chests are not visible before that.
-
When you acquire a new weapon in the game, it will instantly be accessible for any further levels you play or campaigns you embark on with that same profile. On PC, the new guns are bound to 2-5 number keys by default and on a console, users can cycle through them with the D-pad.
-
If you’re the type of person who is after high scores, shooting the weapon chests again and again will net you an extra 1,000 points on each run.
Location of each weapons chest
Chapter 1: Crossbow
Locating a Crossbow can be complex, as it may appear in various places while playing Chapter 1. Knowing the correct route to take could be the key to finding one of these bad boys.
If you want to get your hands on that Crossbow, the quickest way to do it is by taking the most direct path. Start by saving the scientist on the bridge.

When you first walk in the entrance hall, take out the undead weremonkey on your left. It’ll trigger the path that leads you through the doors ahead instead of up the stairs to the second floor. So don’t skip this step!

In order to move forward, you’ll have to go through a test of agility. You’ll need to outsmart the two weremonkeys, then take on the big bruiser before he can do the body-tackle of doom and send you down a different path. No pressure! Just dont let him knock you down the hole.
When you enter, there will be a break room-like area. Focus your attention on the center of the screen and you’ll find a chest located on the right, behind a pillar. Beware of zombies that will be blocking it.

It’s a race against time to shoot and loot that chest – you’ve got seconds to spare! If you’ve still got some health points left, it may be worth taking a few zombie hits, just to make sure you can beat the Crossbow clock and bag your new weapon.
If you really want to show off your skills, the Crossbow is the perfect weapon for you – it has a five-bolt magazine, which might fire a bit slower than the Gun but can dish out way more damage with each shot. Plus, if you’re quick enough, it can exploit those pesky weak points like that tiny crack in the Chariot’s armor! The Crossbow may not be the best choice when it comes to quick reactions, like shooting down pesky oil drums out of the air, but the gun can get the job done quickly.
Chapter 2: Pitter
Ready to start Chapter 2? There’s a barrel-tossing zombie waiting for you – vanquish it and shoot open the trap door it was standing on. You’ll be taken on a thrilling journey into the mansion’s kitchen, provided you don’t succumb to any zombie attacks!

When the hammer zombie makes his grand entrance through the kitchen wall, don’t be too overwhelmed – just look for the chest behind him that appears briefly on the lower right – it’s what you need! This is like a one-in-a-million shot: You have a small window to line up the perfect shot, but if you’re willing to take the risk by taking a hit – it will give you some extra time and I highly recommend it!

The “Pitter” is a handheld ballista, serving the same purpose as a Crossbow, except it dishes out more damage in each shot and pins those pesky zombies to the nearest wall like they’re prized art pieces. It may not be practical, but it sure is enjoyable!
Ready to get your Dance Macabre achievement/trophy? All you have to do is take aim at the Hermit’s big ol’ melon, and fire a shot off with Pitter. Sure, other enemies will work just as well, but why not make it even more fun with that big juicy head of his!
Chapter 3: Grenade Launcher
If you’re looking for the Grenade Launcher chest, it’s pretty much a piece of cake to find. It’s located on the right side of the back wall in the room where you find the security card. Plus, you have plenty of time to shoot at it and be successful –so no need to stress!

With the Launcher, you can blow away up to three hordes of zombies with just one shot! This bad boy is a must-have for spicing up your Horde campaign with all the armies of extra zombie minions.
Chapter 4: Assault Rifle
Ready, set, go! Kick those two zombies to the curb and move on. As you come to the next two, there’ll be a chest with your name on it – literally – waiting for you on the right side of your screen. Go get it!

When it comes to choosing between the Assault Rifle and the Gun, the former is a much smarter choice – if only for preventing carpal tunnel syndrome! Sure, it inflicts lower damage per shot than the Gun but its full-auto fire and 30-round magazine will more than make up for that. Take a deep breath, tighten your grip on the trigger and watch all your troubles (and any unfortunate scientists in the wrong place at the wrong time) disappear!
Congrats, you’ve earned your survivor’s badge for the House of the Dead Remake! But don’t think you’re done yet – there are still plenty of surprises in store for you as you delve deeper into this amazing game.
